I'm so excited about the new school year! This is my 28th year in education and my 13th year at Harris Creek. During the past 27 years I have taught grades 1, 3, 5, & 6, have been a K-6 school counselor, and have served as a K-5 resource teacher for academically gifted students. I enjoyed each of those assignments and am really excited about teaching Reading, Writing, and Social Studies to all of our Track 1 Fifth Graders!
My education has been enriched by many gifted educators. I received a BA from UNC-Chapel Hill, an M.Div. in Pastoral Counseling from SEBTS, an M.Ed. from UOP, and took additional graduate classes in school counseling & statistics at NCSU. I have one son, Matt, who is a graduate of Knightdale High School. Parenting him has made me a more well-rounded teacher. He has several disabilities, as well as Asperger's Syndrome (on the autism spectrum). Besides spending time with my family & friends, I enjoy scrapbooking, swimming, reading, and watching ice hockey. Your insight into your child's learning is welcome this year. You know your child much better than I and our partnership will be important to helping your child have the best year possible. My door and my ears are always open! |
